Network Rail have launched the search for a development partner to undertake commercial development at Queen Street Station in Glasgow. The development will provide enhanced station facilities for passengers and a landmark mixed-use development in the airspace above the station car park.
A notice has been issued in the Official Journal of the European Union seeking registrations of interest to undertake the development of the site, which extends to approximately 1.85 acres. All proposals will be required to include enhancements to the station, and can be extended to include other land not owned by Network Rail adjacent to the site.
The deadline for responses will be January 2011 with those shortlisted invited to make detailed scheme submissions. It is anticipated that final developer selection will take place in June 2011.

“The end result of this development partnership will be a new station for passengers, and a new landmark building in the heart of the city of Glasgow.”
