Arriva Trains Wales wins award for top performance

Arriva Trains Wales has won an award for best operational performance at a prestigious ceremony organised by the Institute of Rail Operators on 22 January 2011.

Created to acknowledge best practice among rail operating companies, the ‘Golden Whistle’ awards publicly recognise operational safety, performance and service delivery and congratulate those railway operators who have done an excellent job. The ‘Whistle’ awarded to Arriva Trains Wales, recognises the punctuality of its train service which came out top in the ‘Best Operational Performance’ category.

Peter Leppard, Operations and Safety Director for Arriva Trains Wales commented: “We are extremely proud to have been presented with this Golden Whistle award. Not only does it reflect all elements of excellent operational performance but it is also indicative of increasing levels of passenger satisfaction which according to the latest National Passenger Satisfaction Survey now stands at 87%.

“This award is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and our industry partners including Network Rail who are involved in ensuring that punctuality remains our top priority”, he further added.
