All rail passengers using East Midlands Trains services to London now have access to the internet whilst they travel, thanks to the new on-board WiFi service which has been rolled out to all of the company’s trains to and from London.

In just six months, East Midlands Trains has fitted WiFi onto all of its 27 Meridian trains and 11 HSTs. This means that all passengers travelling from stations on the mainline route to London including Sheffield, Chesterfield, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Market Harborough, Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough can now fully benefit from this new service.

David Horne, Customer Service Director for East Midlands Trains, said: “We are very pleased with how the WiFi service has been received by our customers and we have received some very complimentary feedback on how fast and easy it is to use.

“Through the £15 million refurbishment of our trains to London, passengers are set to benefit from a greatly improved travelling environment. The full introduction of our WiFi service really will help to enhance the customer experience and will help travellers to work even more efficiently whilst on the move.”

East Midlands Trains’ WiFi service offers passengers easy access to the internet, email and other online applications, whether for work or leisure purposes. First Class passengers benefit from complimentary access to the service, whilst other passengers pay a small charge using a debit or credit card through the online secure payment page.

Complimentary WiFi access to the internet is also provided through the First Class lounges at Sheffield, Derby, Leicester, Nottingham and London St Pancras and the Business Lounge at East Midlands Parkway.

Details of how to use the new service can found in the booklets displayed on board the trains installed with WiFi or by asking a member of the on train team.
