As part of its strategy to invest in leading plant assets, Hydrex has undertaken a £3m programme to upgrade 50 road/rail vehicles, underlining the business’ commitment to offering equipment of the highest industry standard to clients. The work will be carried out by Rexquote, G.O.S Tool & Engineering Services, and via the firms’ own facility in Portishead near Bristol.

As part of the programme, rail-road dozers, excavators and trailers will undergo an extensive upgrade programme to RIS 1530 PLT Issue 2 which consists of an entirely new RCI system being fitted, full re-spray, cameras being fitted to remove blind spots, additional control valves to prevent working at height when changing the diverter valve, and full service brake capability.

Dawn Hooper, Managing Director at Rexquote said: “This is a significant order from Hydrex who have shown real enthusiasm to make a difference in the Rail market. These developments will add value to their clients by providing safer machines for work on the infrastructure”.

Managing Director at G.O.S, Neil Gregory, also comments on the investment: “These upgrades bring these machines up to the highest industry standard. We are pleased to be working with Hydrex on this programme and look forward to supporting the business on future projects.”

Carl D’Ammassa, Chief Executive Officer at Hydrex said: “I am delighted to announce this multi-million pound investment by Hydrex. This is an exciting time for our business and this decision emphasises our continued support to the Rail sector and ultimately means our clients gain access to the best plant solutions in the industry. Bringing machines to the latest standard, whilst also investing in new equipment and innovations are key elements of our strategy”.

This is the second multi-million pound investment made by Hydrex in the last four months after the company announced delivery of 20 Platform Basket Evo RR14 access platforms, worth £2.5m, from dealer Promax in November 2010.
