East Midlands Trains has announced that the opening hours for its new First Class Lounge at Sheffield have been revised from last week, allowing even more opportunity for business passengers to catch up with their emails, or enjoy a quiet read of the newspaper before joining their train.

The Lounge will now be open from 06.00 to 16.30 every weekday, enabling passengers throughout the day to use the dedicated new facility.

Designed to build even further on East Midlands Trains service improvements, which have delivered faster and more frequent trains between Sheffield and London, the First Class Lounge represents a significant step forward for business travellers using East Midlands Trains services to and from Sheffield.

The Lounge, which is located on platform 5 at Sheffield station, has been created as part of East Midlands Trains’ £10 million station enhancement programme.  Other improvements for Sheffield include the full refurbishment of all the standard class waiting rooms and toilet facilities, as well as improved CCTV throughout the station.

The new Lounge provides a dedicated facility in Sheffield for the first time, and First Class passengers benefit from complimentary refreshments, newspapers and WiFi.

David Horne, Commercial & Customer Service Director for East Midlands Trains, said: “The new First Class Lounge has been a welcome addition to Sheffield station, and our business passengers really are enjoying the new facility.  Based on passenger feedback and to allow even more passengers the opportunity to benefit, we’ve reviewed the opening hours and the Lounge will now be open every weekday from 06.00 to 16.30.

“With the roll-out of faster journeys and twice hourly services, we have demonstrated our determination to provide the best possible service for train passengers between Sheffield and London, and our latest commitment to providing a facility for our business travellers throughout the day really is the icing on the cake.”

In addition to the newly-opened First Class Lounge, all passengers travelling from Sheffield to London with East Midlands Trains have access to on-board WiFi, allowing them to work easily on the move.
