The opening of the Green Line of the Dubai Metro has been delayed yet again.

The line has already been postponed from April 2010 to August this year, yet the completion of the line has been put back until around November this year, the RTA has said.

The Green Line is one of the two lines on the Dubai Metro network in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The line will run through Deira and Bur Dubai, running parallel to Dubai Creek and will be 22.5 kilometres. The Green Line will be served by 25 driverless trains travelling at an average speed of 110 kilometres per hour (68 mph).

“The Green Line will be operational at the end of the last quarter of 2011. It is under construction now,” Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA, told a local news site.

When the Green Line opens, Al Tayer said he expects the current daily passenger ridership of 170,000 to “double.”
