CCD Design & Ergonomics has been selected as the Ergonomics Integration Manager for the Kings Cross Station Redevelopment Project.

CCD will provide human factors expertise to the nine main delivery projects to ensure user needs are delivered across areas such as staff and passenger accommodation, ticket machines and gates, signage and wayfinding, passenger capacity and control rooms.

King’s Cross is the busiest transport interchange in the United Kingdom with more than 47 million passengers every year.

This figure is expected to increase to 60 million passengers by 2020 with the addition of further train services, additional platform space, improved facilities within the area and improved transport interchanges with Transport for London services.

Accounting for this increasing demand, combined with the need to provide ease of access to the 2012 Olympic Games site in Stratford, has led to Network Rail investing more than £450 million into the King’s Cross Station Redevelopment Programme to transform the station into a world class transport hub by 2013 while still maintaining its Victorian history.
