Thousands of passengers trapped on Jubilee Line

Thousands of passengers were trapped in trains on the Jubilee Line last night for over an hour after the line was shut down.

Five trains full of passengers were stranded between Kilburn and Canary Wharf after the entire line shut down after 7pm due to a power failure.

Passengers had to endure sweltering temperatures before being evacuated through tunnels and along tracks.

One commuter said:

“We were stuck in a tunnel and an announcement was heard saying, ‘We don’t know how to open the doors.’ Completely unacceptable and they still made us get our tickets out for the barriers once we had got off! The whole experience was quite frightening.”

A signal failure then caused services to be suspended between Willesden Green and London Bridge on Wednesday morning.

Transport for London said the problems today were unrelated to Tuesday’s issues.

A Tfl spokesman said:

“We would like to apologise to passengers for the disruption to services caused by a power failure on the Jubilee Line.”
