Tube upgrades this weekend (21/22 May)

The Tube is still undergoing major works to improve infrastructure to ‘increase capacity by around 30%.’

TfL have advised that the weekend of 21/22nd May will be a busy one for upgrades, meaning congestion and confusion for travellers.

Below is a list of the work going on and which lines and services will be affected.

London Underground

There are no planned works on the Bakerloo, Central, Piccadilly, Victoria and Waterloo & City lines this weekend.

Blackfriars Tube station on the District and Circle lines will be closed until late this year for Thameslink redevelopment works.

Cannon Street Tube station on the District and Circle lines will be closed every weekend until mid-2012 for redevelopment works.

Farringdon Tube station on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines will be closed all weekend for Thameslink works.

Northern line trains will not stop at Tottenham Court Road until late November due to station improvement work.

The Circle line will be suspended all weekend between Moorgate and Hammersmith, due to Thameslink work at Farringdon.

The District line will be suspended all weekend between Tower Hill and Dagenham East, except between 12.30pm and 8pm on Sunday when there is no service between Barking and Tower Hill westbound and between Tower Hill and Upney eastbound. This is due to Crossrail work at Whitechapel and track replacement work.

The District line will also be suspended all weekend between Putney Bridge and Wimbledon due to line upgrade work.

The Hammersmith & City line will be suspended all weekend between King’s Cross St. Pancras and Barking due to Crossrail work at Whitechapel and track replacement work.

The Jubilee line will be suspended all weekend between Waterloo and Stanmore due to line upgrade work on the Jubilee and Metropolitan line.

The Metropolitan line will be suspended all weekend between Aldgate and Harrow-on-the-Hill due to line upgrade work on the Jubilee and Metropolitan line.

London Overground

London Overground services will be suspended on Sunday between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction due to planned engineering work.

London Overground services will be suspended on Sunday between Sydenham – Crystal Palace due to planned engineering work.

Docklands Light Railway (DLR)

The DLR will be suspended all weekend between:

Westferry – London City Airport/Beckton
