Arriva is ready to play its part in this summer’s UEFA European Under 21 Championship in Denmark after securing the role of official transport company and a national sponsor.

As official transport company, Arriva Danmark is helping to promote the tournament and will transport thousands of people to the finals, which will take place in the cities of Aalborg, Aarhus, Herning and Viborg.

Arriva has a particularly strong presence in the Jutland region, where all of the fixtures will be played. Advertising on the company’s bus and train services and at stations is providing an excellent platform to promote the tournament, which begins on 11 June 2011.

Thomas Øster, managing director at Arriva Danmark, said:

“The tournament fits well with our operations. We provide buses in all four of the host cities and trains in Aarhus, Herning and Viborg.

“The Championship is a prestigious sporting event and we are proud to be associated with it.  Our expert team is working to ensure that spectators get to the games comfortably and on time.

“We look forward to welcoming supporters from all nations on board our buses and trains during the tournament.”

In a statement announcing the sponsorship David Taylor, chief executive of UEFA Events SA, said:

“UEFA is delighted to welcome Arriva on board as a national sponsor of the U21 tournament. As official transport company of the U21 finals, Arriva will give the championship a significant boost by providing valuable exposure for the tournament across their different transportation vehicles.”
