New cycle parking facilities have recently been installed at St Neots Station as part of a joint investment by First Capital Connect and Huntingdonshire District Council.

The new installation allows for an additional 36 bicycles.

The project, which opened to the public on Monday 30 May, was paid for by a £9,200 match funding agreement between First Capital Connect and Huntingdonshire District Council.

New and improved cycle racks have already been installed at Hitchin, Stevenage, Knebworth, and Welwyn North stations, as part of a £200,000 investment in new cycle parking facilities.

The programme commenced in autumn 2010, and is scheduled for completion by the end of May 2011.

Larry Heyman, FCC’s Integration and Partnership Manager, said:

“More and more people are choosing to cycle and we have continuously improved our cycle parking facilities to meet demand. Cycling is a sustainable, healthy and low cost way of travelling to and from the station.

“I would like to thank Huntingdonshire District Council for their support in funding this project and I look forward to working together in the future.”
