Strikes are set to begin this Sunday on the London Underground as members of the RMT walk out in an employment dispute.

The strike is set to go ahead from 21:00 on Sunday 19th June to 03:00 on Monday morning, whilst you may not be travelling on the Tube between these hours, services are likely to have a knock-on effect throughout the morning.

David James, CEO, mxData, creator of Tube Map app, has some advice for those travelling on Monday morning:

“Whilst the strike will technically be over by the Monday morning commute, commuters should brace themselves for major delays.

“It will probably take hours to settle down to a normal service.

“Check the status of your line before you travel and consider taking alternative routes. A quick look before you leave the house could save a long and hot journey.

“Beware the effect that other delayed lines will have on your own line. For example, if the Victoria Line has severe delays, the Northern line will have to take on these extra passengers and you may end up caught in overcrowded stations.”

mxData’s Tube Map app allows users to plan their journey and access live information about the tube network.

Tube Map is downloadable for free on all iPhones, iPads, Androids, Nokias and Blackberrys.
