Tube strike update – London Underground say they will re-instate driver

Listen to this article

The RMT are set to begin a series of walkouts this weekend in a row over the sacking of a driver member.

Yesterday, counselling service ACAS brought London Underground and the RMT together to discuss their dispute. The talks ‘broke down’ and the issue wasn’t resolved.

This morning, London Underground reportedly said they have written to the RMT confirming that they will re-instate driver Arwyn Thomas if the results of his Employment Tribunal says they should.

The RMT say they haven’t received the letter but the suggestion is that if LU guarantee to abide by the Tribunal’s decision, they may change their Tube strike stance.

The result of the Tribunal is due later this month.

We will keep you updated any progress.
