James Bond returned to the railways using St Pancras International for the launch of a new novel by Jeffrey Deaver.

A team of Royal Marine commandos abseiled from the roof of the station to deliver the first copy of ‘Carte Blanche’. In the book Deaver claims to have brought Bond bang up to date.

007 is recast as a naval reservist returning from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. Recruited into a secret and deniable intelligence agency James Bond is soon hard at work saving the world from a terrorist outrage.

Deaver, a 61-year-old American thriller writer turned up at the champagne bar at St Pancras International, in a red Bentley – still Bond’s favourite car.
