Work to fast track the North West Rail Link continues, with the O’Farrell Government awarding a cost planning services contract.

Work on quantifying the cost to build the North West Rail Link will get underway following the appointment of specialist advisors, Turner & Townsend Pty Limited to provide cost planning services.

“This is a further demonstration the O’Farrell Government is getting on with the work required to fast track the North West Rail Link,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“At 23 kilometres, including 15 kilometres of tunnels, the North West Rail Link is a major project by world standards and specialist cost planners are needed to help manage the project budget,” she said.

“There is overwhelming business and community support to fast-track the North West Rail Link, and we are determined to deliver this priority project.

“The O’Farrell Government is determined to do our homework and ensure taxpayers get maximum value for money.

“We are pressing ahead with the North West Rail Link, and this is another piece of good news for families and businesses in the expanding North West.”

Work developed by Turner & Townsend will establish best practice benchmarks for components of major civil engineering aspects of the project such as tunnelling which will be used to assess construction tender bids.
