National Express East Anglia’s Colchester station is blossoming thanks to a joint initiative between the train operator and Colchester-in-Bloom.

Recent visitors to the station will have noticed a plethora of new planters and hanging baskets brimming with vibrant, seasonal floral displays on the station platforms.

The displays have been funded by National Express East Anglia, and they have been chosen and planted by the expert hands of Colchester-in-Bloom. The flowers are being maintained by the local station staff.

The new displays have an up-lifting effect, bringing a little extra summer colour to the station.

Councillor Dave Harris, Secretary of Colchester-in-Bloom said:

“We are over the moon that one of the key transport operators in the region is taking an interest in horticulture and working with us to promote Colchester-in-Bloom. We hope other businesses in the area will follow the lead of National Express and help Colchester blossom.”

James Reeve, National Express East Anglia’s Colchester Station Manager

“I really appreciate Colchester in Bloom’s work in planting the flowers at Colchester station. It was great to have their expert input.

“The flowers really bring a smile to people’s faces, making the station a brighter and more cheerful place for everyone who passes through.”

Colchester station, in north Essex, is situated on the Great Eastern mainline between London and Norwich, it is also the hub of the picturesque ‘Sunshine Coast’ line which links the historic town with the popular seaside resorts of Clacton, Frinton and Walton-on-the-Naze.
