Following last night’s riots in London, all London Underground and Overground stations have now reopened.

Passengers were told last night to only travel if  ‘absolutely essential’ into South London before violence escalated elsewhere across the Capital.

Brixton station on the Victoria Line was closed for safety reasons as the violence moved closer.

Ealing Broadway and Camden Town stations were also closed last night and many buses also stopped running, meaning people had to find their own way home.

Woolwich Arsenal station was the last station to be reopened this morning, passengers have said the Tube network was ‘eerily quiet’ at rush hour early today.

Other stations closed due to the violence last night include Barking, Harrow on the Hill and Peckham Rye.

London Overground’s Hackney Central and West Croydon were also inaccessible to passengers.

The Metropolitan Police asked everyone in London to head home last night and stay off the streets to enable the emergency services to control the violence and extinguish the many fires burning throughout London.
