A Colas Rail Morgan Sindall joint venture has been appointed to carry out works under Network Rail’s Enhancements Multi Assets Framework Agreement (MAFA) to improve the rail infrastructure in one of the five regions that make up the UK rail network.

The Colas Rail Morgan Sindall joint venture will deliver all works on the Western route, an area between Paddington, the west of England and South Wales.

Running until April 2014, the anticipated revenue for this framework is around £200 million and will involve a range of civil engineering, track and signalling projects.

This win follows the Colas Rail Morgan Sindall joint venture’s initial appointment to Network Rail’s MAFA framework in 2009 which is responsible for the management and delivery of infrastructure works including civils, electrification, power signalling, telecommunications and track.

“We are very pleased to have secured this framework which gives us the opportunity to further develop our relationships with Network Rail and Colas Rail,” says Paul Smith, Morgan Sindall Group’s chief executive.

“The rail sector is set to expand and our expertise in the area leaves us well placed to benefit from this growth.”
