China’s first batch of independently developed light rail trains have been exported to Turkey.

On August 10, the light rail model was unveiled at CSR Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd.

To further enhance the city’s public transport services, Izmir in Turkey has extended its original 11.6 kilometre light rail line to 20 kilometres.

The city has also started construction of the north-south urban express line.

The light rail network in Izmir, constructed ‘with steep slopes and many curves, has a turning radius of only 30 meters’.

With a maximum speed of 80km p/h, each train has ‘independent operation power’.

To increase the safety and stability of trains in densely populated and complex environments, CSR Zhuzhou developed an ‘articulated bogie, which enables a train to move freely and turn around steadily’.

The light rail project in Turkey is a stepping stone for CSR Zhuzhou in the European market.
