Cable theft disrupts rail services

A signalling problem caused by cable theft is disrupting rail services near Guildford.

Delays between Haslemere/Redhill and Guildford are expected until further notice, meaning alterations to services.

First Great Western trains between Gomshall and Guildford are currently suspended.

Trains between Reading and Gatwick Airport will only run between Reading and Guildford. A half-hourly train service is also running between Gomshall and Redhill.

Passengers between Redhill/Gatwick Airport and Reading are advised to travel via central London and not via Guildford.

Customers are advised to use Southern services between Redhill/Gatwick Airport and London Victoria, and London Underground services between London Victoria and London Paddington. Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes

Alternatively, passengers may use Southern services between Redhill/Gatwick Airport and Clapham Junction to connect with South West Trains services to/from Reading via Wokingham.

Passengers between Guildford and Dorking are advised to travel via Leatherhead / Epsom.

A limited bus service will be provided to/from Guildford and Gomshall for passengers travelling to and from Shalford and Chilworth.

First Great Western tickets will be accepted on London Underground, Southern and South West Trains on any reasonable route.

South West Trains are running a reduced service between Portsmouth/Haslemere and Guildford/London Waterloo, with journey times being extended by up to 30 minutes.

The following trains will not run:

  • Trains on the hour from London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour.
  • Trains at 15 minutes past each hour from Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo.

The following trains are amended:

  • Trains at 15 minutes past each hour from London Waterloo to Haslemere will terminate at Guildford.
  • Trains at 39 minutes past each hour from Haslemere to London Waterloo will start from Guildford

Passengers may use Stagecoach buses between Guildford and Hazlemere on routes 70 and 71.

South West Trains tickets will be accepted on First Great Western and Southern services on any reasonable route and also on Stagecoach buses.
