Russian Railways celebrate one year anniversary of Moscow – Nice train

On 22 September, Belaruskaya Railway Station in Moscow will play host to a formal event celebrating the first anniversary of the Moscow – Nice train.

The anniversary train will leave from Belaruskaya Railway Station on Thursday at 5:21 PM.

Executives from the Federal Passenger Company (a subsidiary of Russian Railways) will speak with the media at the event.

The results of the first year of service of the Moscow – Nice line will be announced, along with the company’s plans for the development of additional European routes.

Photos of places that the train passes on its way from Moscow to Nice will be displayed on the platform.

In addition, touch-screen panels will be available, where guests may access a map of the route, read about the cities where the train stops, get a brief historical background and see photos of the main points of interest.

All passengers of the anniversary train will be able to take part in a lottery with prizes.

The train from Moscow to Nice follows the longest trans-European train route and passes through seven countries; a journey of over 3,200 km. The train reaches a maximum speed of 160 km/hour.

The total travelling time between Moscow and Nice is 50 hours and 23 minutes.

The train has luxury carriages as well as first and second class railcars. Train tickets may be purchased in Russia as well as in France.
