The Scottish Government has published a detailed study which outlines options to enhance rail services on the line between Edinburgh and communities in East Lothian and the Scottish Borders.

The study findings will help stakeholders consider which transport options offer the best value for money.

The study will also provide a basis on which stakeholders can develop more detail on how stations and enhanced services would impact the environment, safety, integration, accessibility and social inclusion.

Commenting on the study, Transport Minister Keith Brown said:

“We commissioned a detailed study to look at what options exist to improve services for rail users on the east coast rail line between Edinburgh and Newcastle.

“The study is wide ranging and has examined issues like how services could be improved to Dunbar and what new local services might be realised between Scotland’s capital and Berwick on the border.

“We are now making the findings available for all rail users and interest groups.

“The findings will assist those developing transport options for communities in the south-east of Scotland.”
