Bombardier Transportation has signed a four-year agreement for the delivery of its rail traffic control equipment and spare parts for the Polish rail network.

The contract, awarded by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA, the Polish Railway Lines Administration, is valued at approximately 36 million Polish zloty (€8 million).

Bombardier will deliver its EBI Track train detection and axle counter units, EBI Switch point machine, EBI Light signal, EBI Gate level crossing systems and relays, as well as spare parts for its previously installed EBI Lock 850 and 950 computer-based interlocking (CBI) and EBI Gate systems.

The equipment will be delivered to PKP from 2012 until the end of 2015.

The system will be delivered by the Bombardier Transportation Rail Control Solutions site in Katowice, Poland with some spare parts from Sweden.

Bombardier has a strong delivery record in Poland, where it is providing its INTERFLO 200 solution for sections of the E59, E65, E30 and E20 transport corridors, as well as the first ERTMS implementation in Poland (an INTERFLO 450 solution) on the E30 line.

The company has installed over 80 CBI systems on the Polish network and over 2,000 level crossings globally, as well as delivering Bombardier CITYFLO 350 automatic train protection technology on the Warsaw and Prague Metro.

Peter Cedervall, President Rail Control Solutions, Bombardier Transportation said:

“Our systems are well proven in Poland, and around the world, and this order is further testament to our customer’s confidence in our technology. With an agreement for four years, this is a further important contract for our Polish operations and for Bombardier Rail Control Solutions globally.”

Janusz Kućmin, Chief Country Representative of Bombardier Transportation for Poland added:

“We are continuing to contribute to the development and improvement of the Polish rail network, including the provision of spare parts. Bombardier’s presence is well established in Poland and this contract further underlines our strong relationship with the market.”
