On 31 October, the Winter Garden at Atocha Railway Station in Madrid will host the opening of a new photography exhibition, ‘Russia through a Train Window’.

The exhibition is a joint project between Russian Railways and photographer Anton Lange, and is being presented as part of a year of cultural exchange between Russia and Spain.

It also represents a ‘step towards closer cooperation between Russian Railways and ADIF’, Spain’s state-owned railway infrastructure administration.

The exhibition will present more than 120 photographs, which were taken during the expeditions of the project’s creative team (led by Anton Lange).

The photographs were taken in some of the most ‘expressive and unique regions of Russia’.

They feature Siberia, the Far East, Sakhalin Island, the Caucasus, the Urals, the North-West region, Lake Baikal and Volga River where work took place between 2006 and 2009.

The photographer will host a tour of the exhibit which will run until 20 November.

Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin, said:

“Today an exhibition exists in Madrid that fits remarkably well into the year of cultural exchange that is being held between Russia and Spain.

“Now you have a wonderful opportunity to evaluate this portrait of Russia, which was fashioned from hundreds of images through the eyes of a talented photographer, Anton Lange.”
