UK national rail performance at 91.5%

Punctuality on the railways reached 91.5% during period 7, according to monthly performance data released today by Network Rail.

The data for Britain’s train services covers the period from Sept 18 2011-Oct 15 2011. This compares to 92.8% for the same period last year.

The moving annual average is now at 90.4%.

The best performing train operators were London Overground who ran 96.9% of their services on time and c2c whose services ran on time 96.5% of the time.

The worst performing train operators were East Coast who only ran 84.1% of trains on time and Virgin Trains, who ran 84.5% of their services on time.

East Coast’s performance was ‘hampered by a number of Network Rail infrastructure failures’, Network Rail said.
