Queensland Rail held its first regional Community Reference Group (CRG) meeting last week in Bundaberg with the results proving the program a success.

Queensland Rail Acting Chief Customer Officer Cathy Heffernan said the meeting was well received with 100% attendance and customers coming from as far as 32km away to join in the discussion.

“This CRG meeting has given the Bundaberg community a voice, allowing people to speak directly with Queensland Rail staff and management about rail topics that interest them.

“If this meeting is anything to go by, the regular regional CRGs will follow in the footsteps of the highly successful City network CRGs, which have provided valuable feedback on a number of initiatives and service aspects important to customers.

“In line with our customer charter commitment on feedback, we value the advice of our customers and this is another step to proactively seeking their input into our operations,” Ms Heffernan said.

“The meeting gave delegates an opportunity to learn more about our long distance services and participate in discussion on topics relevant to Bundaberg such as travel services and infrastructure to products, facilities and communication.”

Nominations are still open for Queenslanders to join the Bundaberg CRG with the invitations being extended to people in Rockhampton, Cairns, Townsville, Gladstone, Longreach, Emerald and Charleville in 2012.

“Queensland Rail is a customer focused organisation, where customer and community input is a top priority,” Ms Heffernan said.

“We want to broaden engagement with our regional customers and communities in even more locations across Queensland.

“We want to listen to what you have to say about our long distance services and invite you to share your thoughts and ideas with us.”
