Knorr-Bremse operations in the UK have won three prestigious Awards from Siemens for outstanding service and performance.

The awards were presented at the recent Siemens Rail Systems Annual Supplier Awards event at which Siemens set out to recognise suppliers that have stood out over the year in terms of both their relationship with Siemens and through the performance of their products and/or services.

Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems (KBRS) based at Melksham were awarded the ‘Going the Extra Mile’ Award by the Siemens Management Team in delivering levels of service and partnership beyond the expectations for normal business or the contractual relationship.

The Award was presented to KBRS for the combination of work, including the first Desiro Overhaul and undertaking detailed investigations work to maximise in-service operational reliability of Siemens fleets.

Siemens stated that the ‘Going the Extra Mile’ Award was made; ‘both in recognition of these specific work streams but also for the increasingly positive way in which KBRS work with us to overcome the daily challenges of maintaining modern passenger rolling stock to exceptional levels of safety and reliability in the UK.’

The KBRS Melksham site also received an Outstanding Performance Award specifically for the work carried out on delivering the Desiro Class 444 Overhaul Programme.

Siemens Procurement Manager, Martin McGough stated that:

“This is a testament to the professional approach taken which included project management, teamwork, co-operation and a ‘can-do attitude’.”

In addition, the Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Burton-upon-Trent (KBRS Burton) facility which is home to the Group’s HVAC Company was presented with an Outstanding Performance Award for the Class 444 HVAC overhaul programme.

Both of the Awards presented to Knorr-Bremse in delivery of this successful and on-time overhaul has contributed to the Class 444s being the most reliable in-service commuter trains in the country.

Managing Director of Knorr-Bremse in the UK, Paul Goodhand commented:

“We at Knorr-Bremse are all proud and delighted to have won not one but three Awards from our valued customer, Siemens in recognition of our service and performance delivery to them.

“These Awards are a credit to all of the many Knorr-Bremse staff here in the UK who have and continue to demonstrate commitment and focus on providing our customers with outstanding levels of service.

“Recognition from a truly world class company such as Siemens is of the highest level that any supplier can receive.”
