On Sunday 4 December Santa will be travelling with National Express East Anglia from Southminster to Wickford and back on the 11.05 and 13.05 services.

Santa and his helpers will be visiting all the children on the train and giving out Christmas presents.

There will also be carol singers, story-tellers, face painters, bracelet making and ‘pass-the-parcel’ on the train to add to the festivities.

This is the eighth year that Santa has travelled on the Crouch Valley line, leaving his sleigh behind and opting for the convenience of the train.

Lynda Stone of the Essex & South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership said:

“We’re so pleased that Santa wants to travel with us once again this festive season. I know he is really looking forward to meeting everyone.”

Last year Santa met around 200 children on the special services. It is hoped that this year’s festivities will be better than ever.

Jackie Gibbs, Head of Customer Service for National Express East Anglia’s Southeast region, commented:

“Last year’s Santa trains were a great success, resulting in a fun, festive, family day out for everyone who came along. I’m really looking forward to this year’s event; it’s a great day out for all the family.”

Tickets are now on sale from Burnham Tourist Information at Burnham One Place, the High Street, Burnham-on-Crouch or by telephoning 01621 784 962.

For the round trip, the Adult fare is £7.00, whilst Children under 12 travel for just £1. All tickets must be booked in advance.
