Over £10,000 was raised for the Railway Children charity by big-hearted rail staff and passengers on London Midland’s farewell to the class 150s tour.

With enough Bombardier-built class 172s being delivered to operate all the former class 150 diagrams, the class, which have been a familiar sight around the West Midlands for over 20 years, are being cascaded to other operators.

The train and its 326 passengers travelled over many rare routes for the class, including the preserved Severn Valley Railway, with the London Midland train crew giving their wages to the charity.

Passengers and staff alike have welcomed the introduction of the new air-conditioned Derby built trains with their large windows and spacious interior.
