More than 275 companies have shown interest in the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link project.

This was revealed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, which recently called the request for qualification bid for the 22 km rail/road bridge from Sewri to Nhava Sheva.

The pre-application conference is scheduled to be held at the MMRDA headquarters on December 14, 2011.

A MMRDA representative said:

“We have seen 275 downloads of the forms from our website and this is still counting. There has been a huge response from international companies.”

Rahul Asthana, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, said:

“The response is very encouraging and we are looking forward to meeting the players with their queries and suggestions.

“MHTL will change the way of the people living in Navi Mumbai and once it is fully developed, it will cut travel time and save fuel,” Asthana added.

Various multinationals from United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Korea, Denmark, Poland, Portugal, Egypt, Spain, Sharjah and Vancouver along with number of Indian corporates have shown a keen interest in the project.

The 22 km long Link connects Sewri in the island city to Nhava in Navi Mumbai.

With interchanges at Sewri to connect to Eastern Freeway and at Chirle to connect to the NH 4B, quick dispersal would facilitate faster commuting.
