Staff from a local train operating company have provided festive gifts and support for Leeds based charity Caring for Life.
First TransPennine Express (FTPE) have donated £300.00 worth of food and hours of volunteer time to the charity which assists homeless and vulnerable people by providing accommodation, ongoing support, friendship and rehabilitation.
21 colleagues from FTPE worked over three days sorting and packing 250 food hampers.
FTPE has supported Caring for Life for a number of years. The food hampers will be distributed to adults who are supported and cared for by the charity and who are seeking a more independent life.
This year Caring for Life applied for support from First Group’s charity committee, which considers requests for funding and gifts in kind based on charitable criteria.
Kate Lamb, Community and Business Improvement Manager for FTPE said:
“We are really pleased to be able to support Caring for Life and the fantastic work that it does within the community. I am sure that this donation will benefit many people in the area and bring a smile to their faces at Christmas time.
“Our teams really enjoyed helping packing the hampers and as always we are proud to work with Caring for Life.”
Staff from the company attended the Crag House Farm on the 6th, 7th and 8th December to help pack the Christmas hampers.

“It was lovely to meet up with the team from FTPE again, who came to wrap and pack 250 Christmas Food Hampers.
“They have helped to make this Christmas a special time for the people we are trying to help.
“FTPE’s continued support of our projects is making a real difference to so many people who would otherwise not be able to enjoy this festive time of year.”
FTPE and parent First Group have previously donated nearly £2,500 to Caring for Life to help funding for the charity’s minibus.
