Stadler Pankow GmbH has awarded a contract to ‘R2P’ Rail & Road Protec to provide Driver Only Operating, forward facing CCTV for six of London Tramlink’s Croydon trams.
Last summer, British tram operator London Tramlink ordered six Variobahn five-carriage trams, with an option on eight more vehicles, in order to provide modern transport capacity to meet increasing demand in the Croydon tram network.
Flemming Kær, R2P Sales Director said:
“We are pleased that after several successful projects Stadler Pankow GmbH again decided to install R2P saloon, DOO and forward facing CCTV system on the 6 trams.
“We are pleased to receive this order; it will provide London’s Tramtrack Croydon Limited customers travelling on these fleets a safe and secure travelling environment.”
Commenting on the contract award, Ulrik Rasmussen, Managing Director R2P said:
“This is a further important milestone for R2P on the UK rail market to strengthen our position as the strongest supplier of hybrid CCTV solutions on the UK market.
“R2P is highly committed to the UK rail market consequently we have opened a UK office in spring 2011.”
Stadler recently completed a test run of the new vehicles which ‘will shortly be delivered to London
