In a revision to plans for keynote presentations at Infrarail 2012, Simon Kirby will now speak for Network Rail, replacing Robin Gisby.

Mr Kirby, who is Managing Director, Investment Projects for the company, will make his presentation on Thursday 3 May.

A member of Network Rail’s board since 2003, Simon Kirby is currently leading a series of reforms to Network Rail’s infrastructure business to increase partnership working with suppliers and restructure way the company delivers capital projects worth around £3.5bn each year.

This completes plans for headline speeches during the three days of Infrarail. On the opening day, 1 May, Minister of State for Transport Theresa Villiers, MP will address visitors to the event, while on 2 May Howard Smith, Chief Operating Officer, London Rail at Transport for London, will be speaking.

The presentations will be highlights of an extensive seminar programme running over all three days of the show and organised by Infrarail media partner The Rail Engineer magazine.

Taking place at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham from 1 to 3 May, Infrarail is the UK showcase for rail infrastructure products and services.

This ninth event in a successful series brings together the latest railway infrastructure products and systems from the industry’s leading suppliers, covering track, civil engineering, signaling and communications, electrification, stations, depots and all other fixed assets.

Infrarail 2012 is supported strongly by Network Rail and is also endorsed by the Railway Industry Association, the Rail Alliance, the Rail Plant Association, the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers and the Permanent Way Institution.
