Network Rail has awarded Invensys Rail a £35 million contract for the Glasgow South Suburban Resignalling (GSSR) project.

Invensys Rail will design, manufacture, install and test the signalling systems.

The GSSR area includes the Cathcart Signal Box area, the East Kilbride branch lines and the Barrhead lines up to the limit of control from the West of Scotland Signalling Centre.

The work is scheduled to begin in March this year and is estimated to be completed in April 2013.

Invensys Rail’s Delivery Director (North), Richard Cooper, said:

“We’re delighted to have been awarded this contract which will see a new generation of signalling introduced to control the Glasgow south suburban lines.”
