Alstom has been awarded a contract by the Land Transport Authority of Singapore to provide new rolling stock for two of its Mass Rapid Transit lines.

The Circle Line and North East Line will also have signalling upgrades.

Alstom will deliver 18 new Metropolis trains to the NEL and 16 to CCL from 2015.

These driverless trains will be manufactured in China-based Alstom sites.

Henri Poupart Lafarge, President of Alstom Transport, said:

“These projects show Alstom’s expertise in interfacing our technology with existing infrastructure and meeting customer expectations. We are very proud to be part of these projects as they will provide greater transportation convenience to many passengers in Singapore.”
