Network Rail has awarded Birse Metro, part of Balfour Beatty Rail, a contract as part of the redevelopment of London Bridge station.

As part of Key Output 2 for the station’s remodelling works, a series of enabling works must be completed in advance of the main redevelopment.

Birse has been named as the Multi-Utility Contractor to co-ordinate, implement and manage a number of the Public Utility Diversion Works around the existing station.

The £1.5m programme of works will involve diverting key services and assets, such as telecommunications ducting and water drains.

Mark Hearne, Head of Birse Metro said:

“We are delighted to be involved prior to the start of Key Output 2. Delivering the enabling works around one of London’s busiest stations is always a challenge but one we welcome.”
