Balfour Beatty awarded rail power supply contract

Balfour Beatty has announced it has been awarded a contract for the electrical distribution works of the West Coast Power Supply Upgrade project.

The project involves the power upgrade design, supply, installation and commissioning of nine new 25-0-25 kV Auto-Transformer (AT) substations between Kings Langley, M25 area in the South, to Whitmore near Crewe in the North, associated OHLE works and traction power feeder cabling.

The project will be delivered by a Joint Venture of Balfour Beatty Rail and Balfour Beatty Engineering Services.

Peter Anderson, Managing Director of Balfour Beatty Rail UK, commented:

“We are delighted to have been awarded this key project and look forward to working closely with Network Rail.

“This is another significant rail infrastructure project that brings together the strengths of Balfour Beatty Engineering Services and Balfour Beatty Rail UK.”
