Railcare awarded snow clearing contract in Sweden

Listen to this article

Railcare has signed a five year development contract for the delivery of snow clearing services to the Swedish Transport Authorities (Trafikverket) with the world’s largest railway dedicated snow melting unit.

The SR700 has a capacity to melt around 500 m3 of snow in less than 30 minutes.

The snow melting vehicle was designed by Railcare to mainly service major railway yards and depots but the machine can work wherever needed.

Railcare’s snow clearing services consist of three different machine models, each with their special application.

To be able to deal with large volumes of snow and ice, the SR700 melts the snow and therefore only deals with the ‘less volume’ water.

This technology allows Railcare to increase the interval between stoppings for emptying.
