NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell says his government has ‘no plans to franchise parts of the CityRail network or CountryLink’.

The Infrastructure Partnerships Australia (IPA) called for some train services to be franchised in a paper published on Monday.

The group made recommendations for the Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra line and CountryLink services in a bid to drive down costs and increase service quality.

Premier Barry O’Farrell said:

“At the moment, our focus is on improving services across Sydney. Our focus is on completing the South West (rail link) and getting the North West Rail Link under way.”
