Punctuality on the railways reached 91.4% during period 11, according to monthly performance data released by Network Rail.

The data for Britain’s train services covers the period from 8 January 2012 – 4 February 2012.

This compares to 90.3% for the same period last year and is the highest period 11 punctuality figure ever recorded. The moving annual average is now at 91.6%.

The highest performing operator was c2c who ran 97.4% of their services on time. London Overground also performed well with 96.6% of trains running to schedule.

Virgin Trains ran just 85.7% of services on time, 3.1% less that their target. This has been attributed to ‘fatalities at Nuneaton and Cheddington and signalling problems at Birmingham International’ over four days.

The most severe incident, impacting the last two days of the period, was a derailment at Bletchley.
