Trackwork will be taking place on Sydney’s South Coast Line for two weeks from Monday 27 February to Sunday 11 March.

Buses will replace weekday trains between Bomaderry (Nowra) and Dapto from Monday 27 February to Friday 9 March and between Bomaderry (Nowra) and Wollongong on early morning weekday services from 12.15am to 4am.

Trains will continue to operate between Dapto and Central, but customers are advised to check train times before travelling as some services will operate to an amended timetable.

Buses will also replace trains on weekend services between Bomaderry (Nowra) and Wollongong from Saturday 3 to Sunday 4 March and from Saturday 10 to Sunday 11 March.

Acting Chief Operating Officer, Tony Eid, says RailCorp is investing more than $6 million over the two week period on maintenance and upgrade works to improve the safety and reliability of services travelling on the South Coast Line.

“The trackwork will include reconstruction of 2.5 kilometres of track, track reconditioning, renewal of turnouts which allow trains to move from one track to another and essential maintenance of overhead wiring and signals.

“Customers on the South Coast have experienced regular trackwork on their line in the last few years and while this can sometimes be an inconvenience, it is necessary to maintain the rail network to ensure its safety, reliability and durability.”
