Atkins, with strategic partners AECOM, has been appointed as one of the four suppliers to the three-year Transport Technical/Engineering advice and research framework by the Department for Transport (DfT), in respect of the road and rail lots.

This replaces the previous DfT Technical Advice and Research Framework, through which Atkins has delivered services to central, regional and local government clients.

This has also replaced the Highways Agency’s Technical Consultancy Framework.

The scope of services range from transport-related engineering, technology, construction and geotechnical services, to risk management, accident investigation and incident management as well as economic, statistical and financial analysis and advice.

Tony Meehan, Atkins’ Strategic Advice Service Director, Highways & Transportation, and Mark Cowlard, Atkins’ Managing Director, Rail Solutions said:

“The strength of the Atkins/AECOM consortium in securing a place on this framework has been our multidisciplinary capability – bringing together global expertise from both the roads and rail sectors. In addition, the two companies have assembled a broad supply chain of over 50 organisations including small and medium enterprises and academics.

“This framework not only reinforces the two companies’ position as market leaders in the provision of advice and consultancy in the UK transport sector, but will also enable the DfT to gain access to a wide range of experts in their own individual fields and deliver real value.”
