The first of six new Stadler-built trams has taken to the streets of Croydon.

The new trams represent an investment of £16.3 million. All six trams will be used on the new line between Elmers End and Therapia Lane when it opens in June.

The new six will not be dedicated to this service and will mix with the current fleet of 24 trams.

Tramlink confirmed that consideration is being given to exercising the option, valid for 36 months, to order an additional 8 vehicles.
