VINCI Construction UK’s Technology Centre has completed the design and construction of a £13 million centrepiece training facility at Crossrail’s Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy (TUCA).

The facility comprises a 40m long tunnel simulator that provides a realistic environment for Crossrail to train the 3,500 operatives needed to construct the new central London rail tunnels and other infrastructure projects over the next few years.

TUCA is a purpose-built training facility that supports the key skills required to work in tunnel excavation, underground construction and infrastructure.

Dr Russell Matthews, Director of Technology Centre commented:

“This is a highly significant piece of work for the Technology Centre that will be a vital learning tool throughout the construction of Crossrail and will help keep delivery standards as high as possible.”
