Southern has chosen to team up with a Scottish software company to enhance safety across their organisation.

Southern will implement Gael Ltd’s Q-Pulse safety management solution to improve both the efficiency and accuracy of its safety reporting and ease the management of its investigations and recommendations.

Q-Pulse will help increase awareness of accidents and incidents across the whole of the Southern Railway organisation.

Steve Enright, Southern’s Head of Safety and Operational Standards, who will be speaking at the Rail Safety Summit this year, said:

“For Southern, there was an ever growing challenge for efficiency and there was a need to have the tools at hand that simplified safety processes and workloads. In addition to this, we required to ensure consistency and quality of work through a systematic approach that allows for the management of safety priorities.

“Q-Pulse will be used as an accident and incident reporting management solution that will inform the SMIS database without the need to have double entry of information.”

Donald Maciver, Founder of Gael, added:

“Gael is proud to partner with Southern on this exciting project, building on our success with other major train operating companies.

“The rail industry is under constant pressure to demonstrate improved efficiency and build on its current record of outstanding passenger and staff safety.”

Steve Enright is speaking at this year’s Rail Safety Summit on 19th April in Loughborough.
