Ansaldo STS to upgrade Xstrata Coal’s rail infrastructure

Ansaldo STS has been awarded a contract to upgrade the rail infrastructure of Xstrata Coal’s Mine Complex in New South Wales.

The contract, worth $10 million involves signalling and train control for the Mine Complex in the Hunter Valley.

Ansaldo STS will design, construct, test and commission the signalling, communications and train control system for the rail facility using MicroLok® II interlocking and Phoenix train control system, which supports the use of signalling systems in a variety of operating environments including mainline freight and heavy haul.

This is the latest in a series of contract wins for Ansaldo STS, in Australia with offices in Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Perth and Karratha, in the expanding coal mining industry of the Hunter Valley region.
