NDC Consultants have been awarded the Principal Contractors Licence (PCL) following the completion of the SPT Concentrator Renewals 11/12 project.

The licence will enable NDC to provide its clients with a full turnkey solution comprising survey, design and build.

The SPT Concentrator Renewals 11/12 project consisted of life extension works on the existing concentrator at Cathcart ECR and replacement of existing crossing telephones with Public Emergency Telephone Systems (PETS) at nine crossings.

The project was awarded to NDC as a full turnkey operation.

NDC surveyed the 5.6km route, produced a full cable and civil design, carried out all of the civils work including under-track crossings, cabling, cabinet erection, route support and submission of the Health & Safety file on completion.

Richard Groves, managing director of NDC Consultants, said: “At a very exciting time within the railway industry, we are delighted to have been awarded a Principal Contractors Licence.

“This will enable NDC to offer additional services beyond survey and design works to Network Rail.  We believe that there are significant opportunities for medium-sized specialist contractors to work with Network Rail to help deliver their future projects. And with our proven record for the delivery of projects in a safe, timely and highly cost effective manner, we are optimistic of significant future growth within the rail sector.”
