The Olympic torch has travelled along the London Underground today in the latest leg of its nationwide tour.

Tube service operator John Light, 64, carried the flame along the District Line from Wimbledon to Wimbledon Park this morning.

Today’s other torch bearers will include double Olympic champion rower James Cracknell, musical artists Katy B and Mark Ronson, and former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan.

The London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay will travel 42.97 miles over the course of the day through the London boroughs of Kingston upon Thames, Richmond, Hounslow, Hillingdon and Ealing.

Throughout its tour of the UK, the torch has made a number of appearances on Britain’s rail network.

On day 33 of the relay, Josephine Loughran, who used her sister’s story to raise awareness about cystic fibrosis, carried the flame on the Scots Guardsman from the National Railway Museum in York to Thirsk Railway Station.
