Engineers work through the night to clear landslip

Listen to this article

Repair work has been completed between Stirling and Dunblane after a landslip caused major delays on the route.

Heavy rain led to flooding near Bridge of Allan on Wednesday evening, forcing the line to be closed.

Engineering work was carried out throughout the night to get the service back up and running.

A landslip is also causing disruption between St Bees and Nether, with trains cancelled between Whitehaven and Sellafield.

Northern Rail have said buses have been ordered but are unable to say when they will be in place.

Passengers are being advised to use Virgin Trains services between Carlisle and Preston.
