Bansal handed railways role in reshuffle

Pawan Kumar Bansal has been appointed as the new Indian Railways Minister following a cabinet reshuffle.

Following the announcement, Bansal said his priority would be to “improve the health of the ministry both physical and financial”.

Bansal takes over from Dr CP Joshi, Road & Transport Minister, who was holding the additional charge of Railways Minister after Mukul Roy of Trinmool Congress resigned in September.

Besides Bansal, Kotla Jaya Suryaprakash Reddy, Member of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh and Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, Member of Parliament from West Bengal were given portfolios of Ministers of State for Railways in the reshuffle.

Previously, Bansal held the Indian Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources ministries
